Why is Ylang Ylang in Ritual 1?
Ritual 1, Intention-Based Aromatherapy™ is a quartet of essential oils specifically chosen to assist you in manifesting your highest dreams by putting you into the space of attraction. The space of attraction is a state of being you shift into in which possibilities and awareness of those possibilities open up and become more available to you. Each of the four essential oils in Ritual 1 is carefully chosen to this purpose and to create a unique and transporting fragrant blend. Essential oil of ylang ylang is in Ritual 1 partly because I adore the fragrance. It is so pleasingly heady and fragrant that it immediately transports me and is an excellent base note in this aromatic orchestration. But ylang ylang (Cananga odorata) also has other benefits which make it essential to Ritual 1: it has been referenced as having aphrodisiac properties, described as a euphoric and has been recommended by Paolo Rovesti (an Italian professor of Milan University) to be used for treatment of “depressant states”*.
But this sexy earthy base note also for its other useful benefits. The 2006 study entitled the Relaxing effect of ylang ylang oil on humans after transdermal absorption states: “The ylang ylang oil caused a significant decrease of blood pressure… subjects in the ylang ylang oil group rated themselves more calm and more relaxed than subjects in the control group. These findings are likely to represent a relaxing effect of the ylang ylang oil and provide some evidence for the usage of the ylang ylang oil in aromatherapy such as causing a relief of depression and stress in humans.” The 2008 study abstract entitled Modulation of cognitive performance and mood by aromas of peppermint and ylang-ylang showed “ylang-ylang… significantly increased calmness” and the earlier 2004 study Evaluation of the harmonizing effect of ylang-ylang oil on humans after inhalation stating the “investigation showed that ylang-ylang oil may be characterized by the concept of “harmonization” rather than relaxation/sedation” which is an even more desirable effect to my purpose of creating this unique Intention-Based Aromatherapy tool.
So, I chose ylang ylang first and foremost for it’s sensational royal earthy sweetness (which blends irresistibly with the other ingredients) to transport you into what we call the Space of Attraction (the perfect place to create your visualization of your perfect future and/or start to manifest it), but also to reduce stress (so you can stay focused and healthy while you pursue that future), as an aphrodisiac (to get you back into your body and reinforce self love as a motivating factor), as an antidepressant (to assist you in focusing on the positive), and as a “harmonizer” (to balance you). Stay tuned for coming blog posts on the why I put essential oils of Lavender, Lime and Jasmine in Ritual 1, Intention-Based Aromatherapy™.
